I have some adorable Lily photos waiting to be posted, but today I wanted to do something different. I've received a number of impassioned emails from readers in the last week, asking me to blog about children on Reece's Rainbow who have captured their hearts.
I wish that finding a family for each child was as easy as posting their picture and information on Lily's blog...I wish that I could advocate for every child on Reece's Rainbow and have the almost overnight success that we've had with Kareen and Olga and Peter. And while I am thrilled that these children all have families- thrilled beyond anything, because there are fewer things more gratifying than being involved in the rescue of a child- my heart is still heavy for the ones who don't have families yet.
And I'm not saying this to garner any sympathetic or encouraging comments- but I do struggle with feeling like I've failed when this little boy sits on Reece's Rainbow without a family...
I've been advocating for little Artem since our Pure Love Giveaway in February, and still he waits.
Waits for a scene like this one or this one or this one...waits for a mommy and daddy to come and give him the chance at a life that he deserves. Because last week he turned five, and in Eastern Europe, that birthday combined with his extra chromosome ensures him a transfer to a mental institution. Instead of a birthday cake and candles and presents and celebration, he will be taken to a place where no little boy should go, to live out the rest of his days in horror.
And I know that sounds dramatic, and I know there are some who would say, well you can't save them all.
But it's no less true because it's horrifying, and while I can't save them all I can try to save this one.
Or this one...
Or this one....
Or this one....
Or this one...
Because each one of these children is waiting for their life to begin. Each one of these precious babies deserves to experience what Kareen experienced, and I want to do whatever I can to help make that happen.
Maybe you're reading here and you know adoption is not an option for you. And honestly, at this point it is not possible for our family either. But you don't have to adopt to make a difference.
Will you help me by spreading the word about these children? By praying for them and blogging for them and sending emails out about them and crying out to God for a family to come forward for them?
And if you are able to donate, Olga and Peter's families still need our help.
Because of the fact that so many children on Reece's Rainbow do not have a family to advocate for them, I made the decision months ago to be their voice, and to release the families who are adopting to do their own fundraising. I get so many requests from families to blog about their fundraisers, and I wish I could say yes to every single one. But I really feel that right now I need to concentrate my voice and efforts on the Artems and Albinas, who don't have anyone advocating for them.
But from the beginning Olga and Peter had my heart. And right now their families are doing all they can to get them home.
If you are able to help them, please go see how you can do so on
A Giveaway for Olga
Forever Family Fundraiser.
And because you are some of the most generous, most amazing people I've been privileged to know, we are going to be hosting a Five Hundred Followers Giveaway in a few days. Lily now has 494 followers here on A Perfect Lily...and as soon as she hits 500 we will be CELEBRATING. I've been busy contacting Esty sellers galore, and so far we have over $300 worth of prizes featuring the name Lily in them (and in keeping with the theme of things I'm aiming for $500 worth of prizes!) that are being donated to Lily's readers. There won't be any donation required to enter- just a comment on that post saying you're a follower. Because I couldn't begin to repay you for the love and support you've shown us since Lily's birth... but maybe this little giveaway will make a tiny dent in my debt to you:)
So spread the word that we only need 6 more followers and PLEASE spread the word about Artem, Albina, Carlene, Andrey and Sasha.
Because you never know what could happen when you try to save Just One.
