And now for a little Lily Love.

Abigail set up a fake adoption fundraising bazaar in our family room the other day. We're having a real one in a week at our church (local peeps, email me for details- it's gonna be HUGE.)

She set Lily up as the cashier, and snapped a dozen cute pictures while I was napping upstairs. I asked Abigail if I could post them here, and she said ONLY if I gave her the credit. SO here you go: all photo credit goes to Abigail Joy Rice. Amen.

I'm so happy to see Nanette's grant fund growing...

Photobucket

If you aren't familiar with Reece's Rainbow, it is an organization that raises grants for orphans with special needs in other nations. Little Nanette has Down syndrome, and she is in desperate need of a family to adopt her. We're helping to raise her grant fund in hopes of attracting a family for her- international adoption is extremely expensive, as you can imagine. Grant funds enable parents who might otherwise be unable to adopt to do so.

For the month of December I'm helping raise awareness about Nanette's grant fund, and her need for a family. Right now Nanette is living in an institution...it is no place for a child. Our goal is to help find her a family by Christmas. I'm praying for a way to offer a huge prize in December- if you are interested in donating a prize or going in on one, please email me.

In the mean time, one of Lily's faithful and generous readers has donated a $50 gift card to Target...

Photobucket

Simply leave a comment saying you donated to Nanette (you can do so by using the paypal box on my sidebar, which links you to Reece's Rainbow) to be entered to win.

Happy Almost December !!!!

winner and a giveaway

How was your Thanksgiving weekend? I loved reading about all of your favorite highlights in the comment section - without a doubt a common theme was time spent with family and loved ones. I wish we could have Thanksgiving every month for that reason alone. And also for apple pie ;)

A few pics of the Lilybird from the weekend...

And as usual, these are all Instagram photos. You can follow at aperfectlily on IG. Instagram is fun and addicting. Is it bad that I'm cropping and editing photos in my dreams? Hmmmm...

But speaking of fun....

Photobucket

...how 'bout another giveaway ??

My beautiful daughter-in-love Naomi, married to my oldest son Jason, has a gorgeous Etsy shop called Annie's Nest Designs. She sells the prettiest necklaces there, and all proceeds go towards their adoption fund.

One reader from the comment section will win the necklace pictured above...just leave a comment telling me one of your favorite holiday traditions.

I'll start it off....

Every year we build gingerbread houses from graham crackers and decorate them with candy. We don't eat them (unless you count munching on all the candy as we decorate), we display them on the piano for the month of December. It's my favorite tradition, and one I look forward to every year.

How about you? What's something that makes you happy during the days leading up to Christmas ? Leave a comment to be entered to win.

And if you just can't wait to see if you won, or if you want to do some Christmas shopping, you can go to Annie's Nest Designs to see a host of other stunning necklaces for sale.

P.S. I almost forgot !! The winner of the $25 gift certificate to e Diaper Cakes chosen by random.org is....

thankful for YOU

This is the third annual "Thankful For YOU" post on A Perfect Lily. Without a doubt it is my favorite post of the year, along with our Mother's Day post. I asked for readers to submit photos of their loved ones, and as usual I have a hard time seeing through the tears to type.... because each one of these children is so amazing. It's hard to put into words, but there is something about that extra chromosome that unites. I've never met most of these families in person, and yet I feel like I have...I follow so many of these blogs, and many of these children have been featured in previous posts here. It is such a blessing to watch them grow, and to hear from their mamas how blessed and enriched their lives are because of them.

This Thanksgiving I am so very thankful for YOU- all of my fellow mamas of children with Down syndrome. I'm so privileged to be on this journey with you, and overjoyed as always to share your children with the world.

Much love,

Patti and Lily

I am thankful for all of the ways Kayla has changed my life. She has only been in this world a short time, and in this time she has surprised me in so many ways. I never knew how much I could love someone, until I met her. I want to thank Kayla for being the daughter I always dreamed about and so much more! I feel so lucky that I have the honor of being her mother.

I am thankful for my sister, Laura, because she has changed my whole
world and has made me a better person. She always makes me smile no
matter what kind of mood I'm in. I am also so very grateful that
because she was born with an extra chromosome we found sweet Kamdyn,
an orphan who also has Down syndrome who lives on the other side of the
world, who will soon forever be a part of my family. Blog link:

I am thankful for Harper because she has taught me how to be a stronger woman. Before Harper I never thought I could love the way I love her. She has taught this "Type A" mama how to relax and to leave the floor a mess. She has completed me and I couldn't imagine life without her extra chromosome.

This is my sweet Glory Ana Mallett.  She is about to turn 6 months old.  We named her Glory after meditating on how we are created to glorify God in our mortal bodies (1Cor. 6v20).  We wondered how she would do that (in beauty, wisdom, talents?).  When she was born and immediately my husband suspected she had Ds, it occurred to me that we felt led to name her Glory, and indeed she would glorify God; albeit in ways we would never have suspected.

Many Blessings from Texas,

Sonya Mallett
