station break for Lily

I hope you'll indulge me, while right in the middle of my Pure Love Giveaway 2 I take a station break for my little girl. She is, after all, the inspiration behind all that I do to raise awareness and funds for orphans on Reece's Rainbow...without the gift of her, my eyes would not be opened to them.

Saturday night the kids were gathered in our family room taking turns encouraging Lily to try taking a few steps in between them. We were clapping and counting steps as she took first two, then three, then four steps in a row. She would get so excited taking steps and then plop to her bottom to cheer wildly for herself. All of the sudden, out of the blue, she stood up- beamed that million watt grin- and promptly took seven steps across the family room floor. To say the crowd went wild was an understatement.

I wish I'd had the video camera ready to capture those seven glorious steps, but I was too "in the moment" to think about it. Strangely enough though, sometimes those memories are the best for me anyway...because they're seared in my memory forever, rather than viewed through the lens of a camera.

And while I don't want to give the false impression that we've never truly and wholeheartedly celebrated milestones here before- nine previous children were just as deserving of a chorus of applause and pride-filled laughter- I don't think we quite knew the heights the heart could go before Lily.

Those little faltering footsteps you'll see in the videos below- those are as precious to me as jewels. You could hand me a million bucks and I bet I wouldn't feel as happy or as proud or as awestruck as the night my baby girl walked across the room. Those moments might be hard fought for and long awaited, but when they come there is nothing like them. Nothing.

Behold. She walks.

Oh my goodness gracious sakes alive!!! Grammi loves the way you have invented you own form of crawling. You are so smart. Keep practicing those steps and before you know it you siblings will be saying "slow down Lils."

It was very hard watching through tears, my Lily Anne. Grammi is ever so proud of you and cannot wait till Friday night to hold Mama, Daddy, you and all your siblings. Oh yes, and to pet Tillie and Lady. Grammi is so anxious to see all of you that my RLS was really going to town last night. I could have run all the way to OR from AZ the way my legs were jumping. You and I can have a walking contest. Love you my precious. Grammi

Aw, loved these videos!! Your house sound so similar to mine, with the crowds wildly cheering on a younger sibling.
And there are just no words to describe what we feel as we witness those first wobbly steps is there!
We are so proud of you Lily!! Big hugs and kisses from Russell!
