special announcements

Did you get a chance to read this post yet?....

It's called Life Without Lily...

There is a very good discussion going on in the comment section on that post, one that I think needs to happen in America. And for the record- we welcome honest, open discussion here~ from both sides of the aisle.

Two of my favorite comments from that post...

Patti- I saw this article the other day and it made me sad. Maybe they should read your blog or get to work w/ people with DS to see how amazing they really are. Or they could watch this...

This is a video made by the older sister of 2 kids with DS that were adopted. One of them may be familiar to you as she was the first Reece's Rainbow child adopted from her region. Anyone that watches it & then labels DS as "disease" needs some new perspective. BG

and the second comment I loved...

Please Sara, and Anonymous, go back and read Patti’s blog post. See that the numbers of abortions, the statistics, don’t jive. What is being aborted an unknown, but clearly high, percentage of the time is what you see in those pictures.

The winner of the book A Good and Perfect Gift is...

Elizabeth said...What a great give away! I've been looking for a book that would help me to learn more about DS ever since finding Reece's Rainbow. For Christmas...I don't know...I don't need anything.

Merry Christmas, Elizabeth- please contact me via email with your address so I can mail your book to you:)

And just because I love you all so much and appreciate your thoughtful comments and your love for Lily, here's another giveaway....

My sweet friend Sam, from Happy Hooks Crochet is donating a $20 gift credit to one random commenter here on A Perfect Lily. Check out her gorgeous etsy shop and see all of her lovely hats and leggings. My girls have a few of her hats, and we get comments about how cute they are every time they wear them.

Just leave a comment here, saying what your Thanksgiving plans are to be entered to win.

Two more requests and then I'm off to enjoy my kiddos...

One: I'm putting together a Thanksgiving post just like last year's, featuring photos of kids and adults with Down syndrome. If you have a loved one (even if it's a sister, an aunt, an uncle) with Ds, please email a photo and one or two sentences saying why you are thankful for them to psalms127.5@gmail.com   I already have quite a few- this is going to be a spectacular post, and I don't want anyone to miss out on it. Please send a link to your blog if you have one, so I can add that to the post as well.

Two: I have a GIGANTIC giveaway scheduled to post the day after Thanksgiving. Right now we have over a thousand dollars worth of gift cards and prizes ready to give away. This giveaway will feature two little angels on Reece's Rainbow close to my heart, and a third, yet-to-be-announced angel as well. I'll give you a hint...it's called Pure Love Giveaway Two.

Please don't miss our Thankful For YOU post on Thanksgiving  (I'm getting all teary eyed just thinking about it!) and our Pure Love Giveaway Two the day after. If you have an item or gift card to donate, and you have not contacted me yet, please do so asap. I have the post all ready to go so that I can just enjoy my family on Thanksgiving... (but if you're late I will gladly add something in for you:)) Please be praying for this giveaway- I can't wait to see what God will do!!

Happy Friday!

I LOVE the gorgeous pictures of Lily and the Happy Hooks products look super cute! I have a few heads that would look sweet with those. :-) I'm excited for your Thanksgiving post. Last year's was a tearjerker :-)

Hi Patti! Do you ever watch the Ellen Degeneres show? I've been watching a lot of her videos on Youtube lately and she's been doing amazing things for amazing, (regular) people. Gifting them ten and twenty five thousand dollars because they need it. One family who adopted their children from Ghana got food for a year, stories like that. You should write in and tell her about what you've been doing for Reece's Rainbow! Tell her your story, Lily's story, and all that your little blog has accomplished for the orphans. I couldn't help but think of you when I was watching these amazing stories and thinking how wonderful it would be if she invited you on her show to talk about Lily, Reece's Rainbow, and if she donated money to the foundation.

Just a thought! :)

Oh phooey, for some reason I could not get the video to work. Maybe I will try again later.

We are going to Hope's for Thanksgiving and pigging out at usual. I am sitting here at my PC and looking at Olga's sweet face. I have ever so many things to be thankful for but I would really LOVE to be thankful for Olga being home by this Christmas.

I don't think Elli or Lily have enought hats so i guess I will go shopping on The Happy Hook Crochet site.

Love ya, Mom

For Thanksgiving I will be spending time with my kids, my sister and her family before heading off to work to "protect and serve". :) I'm a police dispatcher so we are a 24/7 operation. We're having a potluck though so I'll actually get to eat twice or maybe more than twice.

Wow, it has been a while since I've been able to catch up on all the blogs I follow! My head is still spinning since we got home from meeting our sweet *Lina*. Thankfully I won't be preparing Thanksgiving dinner- we will be traveling an hour and a half to spend the day with hubby's family :) Really looking forward to it!
