It is just past midnight, and I just looked at what our little blog blitz for Olga achieved...
In the end there were over 25 bloggers posting about Olga and the Abells who are adopting her...
Countless Facebook posts, emails, and prayers...
No giveaway, no prizes, just a call to give...
Can I just say....
YOU PEOPLE ARE AMAZING!!!!
You are!! You blow me away. I tried to read the email out loud to my daughter Mackenzie, that Jenn sent me tonight - Jenn was thanking me and telling me about some other financial miracles that took place for them today. She was sharing from her heart how overwhelmed she and her husband and daughters are about the love that was poured out today for Olga...and as usual my voice broke, and I just grinned at Kenz...my kids think I'm all pretty much a basket case anyway, when it comes to the angels on Reece's Rainbow. I can hardly get through a post I read about somebody's adoption without choking up. I don't really care if they mock me- I'm a happy mama, dangit!
In one day, friends across blogland raised over $2,400 towards Olga's adoption.
I am amazed- as always- by the generosity of strangers, and the goodness of a loving God.
I just want to thank each and every beautiful blogging mama (and the wonderful blogging papa!) who partnered with us in our Day to Save Olga. If you would like to read Jenn's sweet words thanking everyone, please go HERE. And just because our day for Olga is over, it doesn't mean we can't still give...I hope you'll continue to do so as you can, and also to keep lifting the Abells up in prayer as they continue this journey.
I got to talk to Jenn for the first time today on the phone...and when I hung up I admit it, I cried :)...because if you would have told me back in December that Olga would be living four hours away from me- I think I would have been in shock. I still am. I mean...what are the odds?
So before I sign off the way I usually do, I have one more little favor to ask you all.
One of Lily's readers (thank you, Katrina!) sent me a link to a photo contest on Parents.com., suggesting that if Lily won we could use the money towards adoptions.
My son Jason and his wife, Naomi, have been married for two and a half years. They were childhood friends, then best friends, then they dated...and saved their first kiss for their wedding day!
They have been doing foster care this year for two adorable babies. Naomi found out when she was 17 that she couldn't have children; it's been their hearts' desire to adopt ever since. It looks like their foster babies are going home very soon...and I can't begin to tell you what that's doing to all of us, as we love them like our own.
Jason and Naomi turned in their application to an adoption agency last week. We're going to be supporting them in any way we can towards that. I wanted to ask Lily's readers to pray for them, and also to keep them in mind if you know of anyone seeking a wonderful couple to adopt their baby.
I wish you could meet my kids and see what I mean when I say- there aren't better prospective parents out there than these two. They are the best, and I am so proud of them for putting their hearts on the line to do foster care.
So here's where I need your help...
The photo contest I entered Lily in has a $250 prize if she wins. At the end of the year the editor picks the winning photo from all of the weekly winners, and that prize is $7,000. I would love to help my kids fund their own adoption if Lily wins.
I sent out an email asking our friends and family to vote for Lily today- tonight I found out she's already #7 out of hundreds of entries (I stopped scrolling through after #370!)
Would you vote for Lily?
Here is the link...
and you can vote once every day until March 6th... THANK YOU!!! :)
I'm going to bed a happy woman!!
