One Less Orphan!

Dear Friends,

Before I announce the winners for our Pure Love Giveaway, I just wanted to say a huge thank you...to all of our generous donors- those who donated items for the giveaway, those who donated money to Olga, Peter, Kareen, and Artem, those who donated their blogs or Facebook pages to raising awareness for this giveaway...and most importantly, those who donated their prayers. Truly, God was in this thing. I am so thankful to Him for letting me be a small part of what happened here.

Of course this giveaway wouldn't have been possible without my sweet little inside source, Michelle Z from Reece's Rainbow. I knew she really loved me when she gave me her cell number...of course she may live to regret that decision, but I had to know how our kids and their totals were doing while I sneaked away to a marriage retreat right in the middle of my giveaway! Thank you Michelle. And if you-know-who calls to ask me on her TV show----I'm not going. Not even if she flew us there together. Send Andrea!! But I still love you:)

I just have to say, our family had so much fun reading each and every comment that came in this week. So many readers shared their hearts and their stories and their burdens for our kids on Reece's Rainbow... whether it was Caroline, who gave all of her allowance to help Peter...or the Graves family, who donated in honor of their baby girl who would have been 8 this week...you touched our hearts and blessed us all with your kind words and beautiful giving. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for coming here and contributing to the miracle we saw take place this week.

Because it was a miracle.

Some might attribute the miracle of the money that came in to the amazing goodness and generosity of kind hearted people. And I'd have to agree- you folks are nothing short of amazing.

But when a family stepped forward for Peter- 4 days after our giveaway started- when not a soul had inquired about him in the 4 years he had been on Reece's Rainbow....well, that's the stuff miracles are made of.

I'm not at liberty to say who this wonderful family is just yet. I will just say this for now...Peter's new mommy works at the largest free-standing children's hospital in the country. That medical center includes the premier heart institute in the US....as well as a school that is geared primarily for children with Down syndrome. This school staffs therapists that work with the children daily, and this mama's son (who also shares Peter's extra chromosome) is on the waiting list to attend there....because it's that good. How much you wanna bet Peter gets in there stat? Cuz that's just how my God rolls!

So with that little shared tidbit, I think it is obvious to anybody reading here...GOD did this. This family didn't even know about my blog last week. Never heard about my giveaways, or Reece's Rainbow. A friend emailed them, and when the mama saw Peter she knew instantly- that was her son.

There is SO much more to this story- and I seriously cannot wait to share all the details with you.

Before this giveaway Peter was facing certain death- this year. He has not received all the medical care he needs, he is living on borrowed time, and a transfer to a mental institution would have sealed his fate.

As my dear friend, Adeye would say...

BUT GOD....

Photobucket

God is in the business of miracles. We can do our part, and pray and believe and give. But THIS rescue has GOD written all over it.

Sooooo without further ado....I'm going to announce the winners of the prizes!! (and I just spent the last hour copying and pasting comments left on other posts that should have been left here! Just cuz I love you all so much!!)

I never thought I would win anything, let alone the camera I wanted! I wanted to let you know my grandma is so kind & generous that she gave that $50 for me to choose which charity I gave it to, so I decided Peter & Artem needed it. Since the gift came from my grandma I felt like you should know who it really came from. I so wish I could share the camera, but sadly she is too far away. I know I don't know you but could you pray for her? She has parkinson disease & has health issues related to it. Even if she knew how to use or wanted a camera, I am sure she would graciously want me to have it. Patti, thanks so much for letting me give gifts of love to peter & artem as they truely were. Thanks to everyone who donated prizes or donated to these kids!! I hope my giveaway can be a blessing to other kids just like patti has done for these kids. She is a truely inspiring person. Please post your email so I can contact you about my prize. Wanted to share, i will be surprising my mom when the prize gets here as she has wanted our family to have a nicer camera for awhile

That just brings tears to my eyes - not winning the necklace, although it is beautiful, but to hear about Peter's perfect family finding him. I remember seeing his photo on the RR site, an older photo, and he just had an even more forlorn look than most of the others. I just really, really can't wait to hear about his family and to follow his journey. WOW is all I can say ....

Just read this whole entry to my husband. Tears for both of us...HAPPY ones. I'm SO happy for these kids. Thanks for ALL you do, Patti. God is good!!!

So happy, sweet little Peter. Whenever I see his face on my monitor, I reach out and touch his cheek. I cannot wait until his own mommy does that for him.

Yay! This made my day.
